Canadian Folk Music Awards: Toronto: December 2-3, 2016

A big congratulation goes out to the nominees for the 2016 Canadian Folk Music Awards.  The annual award celebration will be held in Toronto as a culmination of an event full of concerts, and showcases.   Featuring a wide array of talent throughout the event, organizers are offering weekend passes in addition to tickets to individual events. Performers recently announced for the Gala Awards, taking place at the Isabel Bader Theatre on Saturday December 3, include: Bruce CockburnColin LindenThe Ennis SistersSultans Of StringRed Moon RoadKlô Pelgag amongst many more. Folk Alliance 2017 showcases/Vitrines à Folk Alliance 2017

PCI_brochure_2012_coverffacadFolk Music Canada is happy to announce that we will be offering showcase opportunities at Folk Alliance 2017, from Wednesday February 15 to Saturday February 19, 2017. Interested in being a performer?  Apply here.

We encourage export emerging, and export-ready Canadian artists to submit for this opportunity and take advantage of the opportunity to build their international careers.

The deadline to apply is Tuesday November 15, 2016 (midnight EST).

US Work Permit Processing – Update and Changes

Our friends at the Canadian Federation of Musicians have updated us on US work permit processing times and upcoming changes. Please spread the word!

Current processing time is 120 calendar days and can change at any time.

As of December 23, the USISC fees for processing applications are increasing from $325 to $460 US dollars. The last day you can submit to the CFM under the old fee structure is December 19, 2016.

Folk Music Canada Announces Showcases and Business Mission at the 2016 Americana Music Conference

Folk Music Canada is  thrilled to announce the line up for the #FMCTopNotch showcase to be presented as part of the official programming for AmericanaFest on Friday, September 23, and its business mission within the concurrent Americana Music conference.

These activities will be part of the 17th Annual Americana Music Festival & Conference, which gathers thousands of artists, fans and industry professionals from all over the world from September 20 to 25 in Nashville, TN and includes more than 200 performances.    New  in 2016, Folk Music Canada is partnering with CIMA to organize 100 business to business meetings between Canadian music entrepreneurs and key Americana industry members, as well as a networking reception. Participating Canadian businesses  include: Balsam Pier Music, Black Hen Music, Borealis Records, Mavens Music, Meta4Music.

Folk Music Canada AmericanaFest 2016 Showcase Line-up Announced

We are thrilled to announce the line up for our #FMCTopNotch showcase to be presented as part of the official programming for AmericanaFest on Friday, September 23 from 12-2pm.
